Based in Los Angeles, California, Jeff McNeal
has been a leading Los Angeles voice for network television promos
and movie trailers for over a decade. In recent years,
his warm. story-telling voice has been featured on numerous films
for families, including several for Walt Disney Pictures.
Often compared to or promoted as a "young Hal
Douglas" in the early years of his quest for trailer VO work, Jeff
admits that initially, he was a bit perturbed with the comparison,
wanting me to be known for his own, natural sound, rather as
a poor imitation for a living legend in the business. He even
auditioned at the WB Network to fill in for Hal Douglas when he was
on vacation. But after some introspection, McNeal came to
appreciate, and was indeed, flattered by the comparison.
"Hal Douglas was always my favorite trailer and promo voice.
For a few years, I would be invited to scratch read for a trailer,
only to find that Hal Douglas was used on the final, so at first, it
was a little frustrating, for me." McNeal says. "I wasn't
content to be Hal Douglas' 'bench warmer", so to speak, but realized
one day just how fortunate I was to even be mentioned in the same
breath as one of my voice over heroes." Before
long, Jeff found himself cast as the voice for Disney's "Winnie The
Poo" reboot and voiced the entire theatrical campaign. Not
long after, more opportunities followed, including the release of
Disney's "Beauty And The Beast 3D" and Disney's "Frozen". It
was then that Jeff finally realized it was his own sound that the
producers were now seeking - and he credits the late Hal Douglas for
helping him to develop his own signature style as a consummate story
teller - able to shift from a warm, grandfatherly feel to a dark,
foreboding read brimming with tension.
Available on short notice with his ISDN equipped recording studio,
using only the highest quality sound tools, Jeff McNeal has earned
his well-deserved reputation as a serious, dedicated professional
who is extremely easy to work with, efficient during the sessions requiring minimal
if any direction, lightning fast with file delivery after the
session and most importantly,
possesses a seasoned, authoritative voice that commands
attention and draws viewers in.
